This work-from-home transition project emerged in response to COVID, when employers and employees were rapidly shifting from office-based to home-based work. In collaboration with a local business publication, GIG Design created a three-part webinar series offered to readers and the broader business community to support both employees adjusting to remote work and leaders managing distributed teams.
The project also served as GIG Design’s fieldwork placement for occupational therapy doctorate students from the University of Southern California. The GIG Design team developed curriculum to guide students’ remote learning and structured their role in providing virtual consulting to employees navigating new work-from-home routines, environments, and expectations. Through this collaboration, the webinars and consulting combined practical strategies for workspace setup, boundaries, routines, and self-care with evidence-informed occupational therapy perspectives.
